New record: London FLAT sells for a staggering $200 million dollars

London often tops the charts as one of the world’s most expensive cities. And today news that a FLAT has just sold for an incredible $200million (That’s £140million for us Brits!) will further cement the city at the top spot.

If that dizzying price wasn’t bad enough, and please stop crying into your cup of tea, the flat is not even anywhere near complete and further work is needed to bring it up to the spec!

Once finished the value is expected to increase to a whopping $16,000 per sq ft – which is around £175million. Gulp.

So yes, the buyer has just bought a shell. No walls, furnishings or utilities. Bargain.

The huge 16,000 sqft Knightsbridge penthouse in the new development called “One Hyde Park”, has been snapped up by a European European buyer. At least they they do get “staff”. Of a sort. But certainly no butler. And for sure no Mr Carson.

The developer behind the place is obviously chuffed to bits (happy in American English!) and said: “One Hyde Park injected new vitality into the London super-prime residential market and helped to re-establish London as a global destination for property investment.”

I’ll take two.

Blimey! is your daily dose of British news and features for anglophiles everywhere. This article was carefully written by Tim Holt, a British actor and author based in North Carolina. He misses England very much indeed, but also loves America too. Forever torn between two magnificent slices of sod.
