The great stereotype of the British is the stiff upper lip, not talking to each other in public areas such as trains and buses. And that’s mostly true, to some degree. I’m always continually amazed how MUCH Americans talk to each other in shops and even just when walking around. They are incredibly social.
It’s got to the point when I return to England I’m saying hi to people in the street, striking up conversation in shops with strangers. It’s just weird and people do look at me funny sometimes.
But the following video is proof positive that Brits DO know how to have fun. The chap leads a chorus of around 50 people early in the morning, on a train from London Victoria to Kent.
This really does make a nice change. No fighting. No sour moments. Just good fun. And even after he left, the carriage kept on singing…. perfect!
